Garmin 160c Review

The Garmin 160c is a compact fishfinder that is perfectly suited for the freshwater fisherman. The 3.2 inch full color QVGA monitor provides bright and clear graphics and can be maneuvered into various positions using the attached adjustment bar. And don’t worry about it getting wet; the 160c is absolutely IPX7 grade waterproof and can easily stand up to water splashes and rain storms. At just over one pound in weight, the 160c packs a lot of punch in a small and lightweight package.

The 160c is paired with a dual beam sounder that is designed for freshwater exploration. With 150 watts of power (RMS) and 1200 watts (peak to peak), the 160c can peer into the waters at distances of up to 900 feet. With the wide angle 80kHz beam, the unit can be used to scan for fish targets that are lurking beyond the sides of your boat as well as directly beneath. And with Garmin’s patented See-Thru technology users can find fish that are hidden near solid structures or suspended in thermoclines.

Enjoy using the 106c on the go. With the Ultrascroll feature, the monitor refreshes sonar data at lightning quick speeds so that the data displayed never lags behind even when moving at high boat speeds. And speaking of speed, the 160c will inform anglers of exactly how fast they are moving along with water depth information, water temperature and even an alarm to alert users of fish in the area.
