For the ultimate in sonar portability look no further than the Smartcast RF15 from Humminbird. Looking for a step up from traditional fishing? Like the idea of being able to search for fish from virtually anywhere? Want a fishfinder that can be used away from the boat? The Smartcast RF15, as its name implies, can be attached to your fishing line and cast from the bank. The waterproof RSS (remote sonar system) emits a radio frequency signal to the control unit which allows the angler to view their game as they reel in the bait.
The Smartcast RF15 might be diminutive in size, but this is not indicative of its performance level. The device emits a single sonar beam that reaches out to a full 90 degree angle for an incredibly wide view while reaching depths of up to 100 feet. The resulting images are displayed on the control unit’s 3.8 inch, four level greyscale screen. The unit is battery powered and can receive the RSS signals from nearly 100 feet away. One touch control allows for simplified menu perusal. Quickly access features such as Fish ID, water temperature, alarms, depth range, and adjust contrast levels for customized viewing preference.
The Smartcast RF15 is all about efficiency and usability. Humminbird has installed Wet Switch technology into the RF15 which helps conserve battery life. When the internal sensors determine that the RSS unit has been removed from the water, the unit automatically shuts down. The result is a unit with unparalleled portability that can be used for up to 500 hours using eight AA batteries. And if you are fishing with a buddy, you can each have an RF15 without interference thanks to its switchable dual channel option: one angler on channel A and another on channel B.
The Smartcast RF15 is for the fisherman on the go, providing many of the features of traditional fishfinders in a compact and travel-ready design. This is marine technology for the masses.
