3Lowrance Elite-5x DSI fishfinder is extremely useful on any fishing boat because of all the innovations that went into the development of the Elite-5x DSI. The 480 x 480 screen resolution, along with the 5-inch LCD screen, make the Elite-5x a work of art. This is one of the most detailed shots I have seen and the color is very good too. The brightness and contrast settings are very easy to use and navigating through the menu was fairly easy. Direct sunlight did not affect the display either which is a very good thing with all the light reflecting off of the water. Also, there is a backlit option so that you can do your fishing in the dark when it is cooler and less traffic.
The sonar images are being given to the screen through the fishfinders ability to transfer 500W RMS / 4,000 Peak Wattage along with up to 800 khz frequencies to give very detailed information. There are so many features to the Elite-5x DSI that I do not know where I should begin. There is the feature called Thermocline Exposed and that shows you the temperature of the different layers of water, and this benefits you because you know where the fish will be hanging out at. Another great and innovative feature is Bottoms Uncovered which lets the fisherman easily see the difference between hard and soft areas and the fish and objects at the bottom of the water.
The Lowrance Elite-5x DSI comes with all of the standard packing like manuals and installation brackets. Installation is a simple and I am not a very mechanical man. The way I feel about it is this fishfinder is not top-of-the-line, but it does a little less for a lot less money.
