Garmin Echo 300c Review

I was shopping for a medium priced fishfinder and I got a perfect one for my needs – Garmin Echo 300c. It has all the features of higher dollar fish finders but the price is right especially with the discount from fishfinders.com. Installation of this fishfinder is extremely simple and takes only a few minutes. I’m still learning all the features but it has already made fishing easier, quicker and more enjoyable for me.

I’m very happy with the unit after using it for over month. Even though the screen on the smaller side, it is very readable even in sunlight. I’m getting accurate sonar returns even at high speeds. The fishfinder didn’t disappoint me even though it’s much cheaper than comparable models.

If you’re looking for a fishfinder that will give you the most bang for the buck, Garmin Echo 300c is what you’re looking for. I’ve used many fishfinders, some of them much more expensive, Echo outperforms them all. The only downside is the 3 inch screen.

I would highly recommend buying this fishfinder. After using Humminbird products for years and decided to switch to Garmin. It was a very good decision, Garmin 300c is a very capable sonar, much better than any Humminbird fisfinder in this price range.

There are several things I like about this fishfinder. The display has great contrast which makes it easily readable in outdoor setting (the resolution doesn’t matter for the readability aspect). Also, Garmin 300c is very accurate when it comes to locating fish, much better than other units I’ve used. Power usage is very low, so it’s a good choice a kayak setup. The price isn’t too high, you can’t get anything better for the money.

Bought this unit because of price. Wanted smaller screen to economize space at front of my boat. Was concerned smaller screen might be an issue.

Size turned out to be ideal for my application. Color and resolution of screen negated my concerns over size. Screen resolution is tremendous asset.

At the recommendation of some reviewers, including a BPS tech, I combined this unit on the bow with a Lowrance DSI 3.5 unit at steering position. I use the Lowrance to search structure and the Garmin to locate active fish.

First time I saw my line and lure and watched a wiper on the screen reorient to strike I knew this was a great purchase. Makes grayscale units seem like antiques.

This is was not a good purchase. It was showing depth of 50 feet when the actual depth was no more than 2 feet. It didn’t show any fish either, I returned it.

The screen on this unit is so small I can’t really tell what I’m looking at. This unit might be good for a younger person with perfect eyesight, I need at least a five inch screen.

I bought a Garmin echo 300 after reading all the reviews..but after using it i was very disappointed with it..it does not show the even at a low speed and it keeps freezing over a depth of 50m..even standing still the garmin doesn’t show the fish..and if I go shallower than 1m it shows fish the whole screen full..i am very disappointed with this purchase..my Navman shows everything better even if its a very older model..
