While Garmin Echo 150 qualifies as one of the budget models, appealing to the cost-sensible fisherman, it has numerous features and qualities which make it feel like a top of the line system. For starters, there are its excellent dual beam capabilities. Making the most of its 200 watt sonar power, the beams go down 1,300 feet in fresh water, relaying back superb detail. And, there is a viewing angle of up to 120 degrees, so you can see far and wide. The Echo 150 also boasts Garmin HD-ID technology, which provides more detail and definition on your compact but bright 4 inch screen.

The best way to experience the benefits of this model are to just set it up and try it out for yourself; luckily, the mount and go capabilities made that a piece of cake to accomplish. As is standard with many fishfinders, it has a quick release mount; and, can be easily set up on any boat, tiny to large, due to its relatively small size. And of course, you do not have to reach too deeply into your pockets to make the purchase possible, as the Echo 150 is (somewhat surprisingly) an economy model fishfinder.

Garmin Echo 150 is an okay product but I’m having a little problem with the auto range. For some reason it drops to lower depth range too quickly and uses half the screen because of that. I turn off auto range and I manually change the depth range so that I can see the full screen but that requires constant monitoring. Overall it’s a solid fishfinder, can’t expect much for $100 these days.

I had the same problem with the echo 150. The depth was always off even in manual if i guess it’s 30 ft sometimes it’ll read 15 ft in shallow hip height water. I haven’t called the manufacter yet

This fishfinder is not very expensive but remarkably accurate when it comes to marking fish. Each fish is depicted with an arch and the precise depth of the fish. Echo 150 also has different size icons to represent the size of fish and the audio alarm when fish is detected. I fish in shallow water so I was able to lower the power output to 30 to get rid the background sonar noise. It’s remarkable what an $80 piece of electronics can do these days.
