The Humminbird PiranhaMAX 165 is a great choice for those in search of an affordable and versatile sonar. Like all Humminbird products, the PiranhaMAX 165 is sturdy and packed with numerous user-friendly features. It features a 4-inch, 8-shade grayscale screen and its single beam system is accurate for up to 600 feet at 200 kHz / 28° @ -10db.

The PiranhaMAX 165 uses a spacious 4-inch 240V x 160H FSTN LDC screen to display images from the sonar imaging system. This screen features easy-to-read icons and is backlit, so night time and low-light viewing is easy. The crystal clear grayscale screen is also good enough for viewing in direct sunlight.

The fish finder comes with a one-year warranty. Humminbird builds high-quality and sturdy products, and the PiranhaMAX 165 is no different. It can take a rough day out on the lake, and you won’t have to worry about water spray damaging this waterproofed fish finder. The system’s easy-to-use physical buttons are intuitively placed and high craftsmanship ensures that no water or debris will make its way into the casing.

This unit features a single sonar beam and features power outputs of 100 Watts (RMS) and 800 Watts (Peak-to-Peak). This allows for considerable depth and accuracy and target differentiation of only 2.5 inches.

The Humminbird PiranhaMAX 165 portable series has been well-reviewed for its value and easy-to-use interface and features. Reviewers especially appreciate the PiranhaMax’s ease of assembly. Most customers were able to install the unit in an hour or less. Nearly all users believe that this product is a great buy and much welcomed addition to their fishing gear.

I bought Piranhamax 165 a few weeks ago and installed it on my pontoon boat. It does what it’s supposed and it’s easy to operate. However the temperature readings are very inaccurate. It’s astounding to me that a company that produces side-imaging sonars is unable to get a simple temperature sensor right.

One of the worst pieces of electronic equipment ever purchased. Very difficult instructions. Lighting very inadequate for daytime use and complicated to turn on through programming steps that revert back after power off. Fish symbols possibly functional but unlikely. Inadequate lighting very frustrating. I am amazed fishing pro shop even recommended this.
