The GPSMAP 421 is a chartplotter from Garmin that offers many features and an easy to use interface. Maps are rendered beautifully on the full color 4 inch QVGA monitor. Garmin has invested heavily in the overall design of the unit as well. A simplified interface with a minimal number of buttons to push allow for easy navigation to critical menu options. The tilt and swivel base provides an efficient method for optimum positioning of the device. And the backlit keyboard and night mode function provide for comfortable readability whether it be in bright sunlit situations or very low light and even nighttime fishing activities.
In addition to its incredible accuracy, the GPSMAP 421 has many other enhanced features. It includes a worldwide basemap which contains satellite images rather than typical illustrated maps. Additional maps can be loaded onto the device via the SD card slot without the need for a computer connection. Even more detailed maps can be loaded onto the device with the purchase of g2 vision cards. With these cards users can view super high resolution satellite images, three dimensional chart views, and photographs of ports, harbors, waterways and many other points of interest.
Other options are available as well; the 421s model includes a dual frequency sounder that will provide the angler with a combo device that has all of the features of the 421 along with incredibly accurate real time fish finding ability. Add the GXM 51 satellite receiver to get up to the minute weather data too. The options are almost limitless with the GPSMAP 421.
