There is absolutely nothing lacking in terms of latest technologies on this unit. Nearly every feature that Humminbird has to offer in the aquatic fish-finding gadget realm is packed into the 858c . In the Humminbird 858C, power and technology meet to help the angler achieve results. The expansive features are backed by 4000w of PTP power output. Know the estimated size of the fish you are tracking with Selective Fish ID. Toggle between features you prefer to use with the X-press menu system. Keep track of the water temperature with a temperature graph and alarm. Watch the images from underwater update instantly on-screen and send snapshots directly to your memory card as needed. Add in a customizable interface and an optional transducer and you have a fishfinder that will get the job done effectively.

Plot your way through the waters like a pro with the external 50 channel GPS. Keep track of your route and waypoints with Chartplotting and view the map to see where you have been. Navigation is made simple with the built-in Contour XD maps that take you into 3,000 lakes across the country. You can see fine detail including contours that will lead you to the drops and channels that are likely to hold the fish.

The 858C allows you to see near and far with the DualBeam Plus Sonar. You are given a narrow 20 degree beam and a wide 60 degree beam that can be used separately or together. The beams provide an accurate return that will show you precisely what fish, structures and bottoms are lurking beneath you. Gain the best coverage by combining the two beams and seeing at depths of up to 1500ft. For deepwater adventures, add an optional transducer and increase that visibility to 2000ft.

The magnificent display of the 858C sets it apart from the crowd. Your returns will come through crystal clear on the 7” color screen. The 480 X 800 wide screen resolution ensures that all images you see are in picture quality.

This is a great unit, big screen, lots of different features. The best way to get familiar with all the features is to turn on the simulator mode before get out on the water. Power usage is quite high, I had to get a separate battery just for the fishfinder.
